And going back to the “Boys will buy boys…”

I’m female, but I like more male artists. Does that make me a part of them too?

Or is it fine because I’m a woman?

Bringing attention to such STUPID little things like this only makes things worse too, because they see how butthurt some people can be.

I mean, things like this don’t even cross my mind.

I don’t get it and its irritating to see all the time.

I feel like there is very little issue with gender equality nowadays, but when you bring up little shit like this…it fuels the issue and keeps it burning when it could be completely gone…

Hey girl, i saw your caption on that picture you reblogged from me and it occurred to me that you may be a little misinformed! There is a HUGE gap between what men make in the art world vs. what women make. The highest selling piece of art by a man was $67.7 million, whereas by a woman only $6.6 million! There are a lot of factors, some being: female artists have historically been excluded from most museums, only 30% of work in galleries and museums are by women, plus women don’t tend to have factories of assistants churning out work. If you want to boost an artist’s price you need to bring their work to auction again and again.

this isn’t women being ‘butthurt’ and nitpicky, this is female artists being undervalued, it’s not a wack-o feminist opinion, these are cold hard facts.

edit: not that being a feminist is wack-o, feminists stand for equality, and quite frankly if you don’t stand for equality, what do you stand for?
